About Axon
Headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, Axon is the leading global developer of personal and public safety technology. Axon’s core product suite includes TASER Energy Weapons (TEW), bodyworn cameras, VR simulator de-escalation training and a host of software products that provide effective and efficient real-time connectivity, evidence storage and incident reporting.
Our Mission
Our mission is to Protect Life. We're out to make the world a safer place by taking on the big public safety problems and challenges of our time. In the next 10 years, we'll triple the amount of time officers spend serving their communities. In the next 20, we'll eliminate paperwork in policing so officers can focus on what matters. And in the next 50 years, we'll make the bullet obsolete. It's a big mission, but it's one we pursue relentlessly every single day.
Our History
Axon was founded 25 years ago as TASER International by brothers Rick and Tom Smith, who were on a mission to reduce gun violence after two friends were killed in a senseless act of road-rage violence. What started in a garage with inventor Jack Cover has grown into an expansive technology company with a network of people, devices and apps that help public safety agencies around the world make their communities safer.
In 2017, TASER International rebranded as Axon to reflect its expanding product line, including body cameras and software. Key products include software that utilizes cloud technology and AI to help reduce time spent on evidence collection and incident reports, in-car cameras that use Automatic License Plate Reader technology to search for wanted suspects, and integrated communication between dispatch, body and car cameras to allow live support during an incident. In addition, Axon has partnered with drone manufacturers DJI and Skydio to integrate its cameras for in-air support. In the spring of 2021 Axon launched its VR Training program, which uses Community Engagement 3DoF modules and fully immersive Sim 6DoF modules to help teach non-lethal de-escalation tactics to officers for critical events including domestic abuse incidences, suicide prevention tactics and situations involving people in crisis.
Our Values
Axon’s vision is bigger than cameras or software. We work every day towards making the bullet obsolete. To make this vision a reality, we live and breathe six core values that serve as guiding principles:
Be Obsessed — Immerse yourself completely to transform the world.
Aim Far — Think big with a long-term view.
Win Right — Win with integrity and honor.
Own it — Commit, take action and deliver.
Join Forces — Act as one global team.
Expect Candor — Deliver with respect. Assume positive intent.
